The National Aquarium of New Zealand’s popular holiday programme is perfect for curious kids aged 6 and up. Each day features fun, themed activities exploring different habitats and wildlife through hands-on science, games and creative challenges. Add a Wildlife Guardian Lunchbox to keep energy levels high for a full day of discovery!

TUESDAY
Stinkiest and Scaliest Superstar Species
Prepare your senses for a wild adventure into the world of nature’s stinkiest creatures!
Step into the shoes of a real marine biologist as you dissect a real squid—if you can handle the smell!
Then, neutralise those squiddy scents by getting hands-on with a batch of calming, scented sensory cloud dough.
Finally, slip behind the scenes with one of our animal keepers for an exclusive sneak peek at a scaly new friend!
WEDNESDAY
Stickiest and Spikiest Superstar Species
Get stuck into science as we explore the sticky, spiky side of the animal kingdom!
Peer through microscopes to examine fascinating biofacts from sticky species like corals.
Mix up your own batch of ooey-gooey slime to discover the science behind natural stickiness.
Then roll up your sleeves and help our keepers prepare a special snack for one of our spikiest reptiles—the tuatara!
THURSDAY
Sneakiest and Stretchiest Superstar Species
Get ready to stretch your imagination and test your observation skills as we dive into the world of the sneakiest and stretchiest creatures!
Discover how animals use camouflage and clever tricks to hide from predators—or sneak up on prey!
Mix up some strange and squishy oobleck—a substance so sneaky, no one’s quite sure if it’s a liquid or a solid!
Then head to the beach to craft your own bubble wand and challenge your friends to see who can stretch the biggest bubble before it bursts!
Programme repeats across both weeks.
When: 8.30am – 4.30pm, Tuesday to Thursday (programme repeats across both weeks)
Cost: $60 per day (including morning and afternoon tea)
